Our client seeks an experienced AS400 specialist minimum 5 years experience for delivery of infrastructure services to a major customer. The candidate’s role would be to provide 3rd level support to the customer’s business units. They would also be working on a transformation project to migrate systems from multiple legacy AS/400 systems to a new build iSeries platform.

Duties:



Ensure that the IBM iSeries hardware and operating system are managed and operated effectively.

Perform problem determination and resolution of hardware and software problems within contracted deadlines.

Assist in performing hardware upgrades and configuration changes on LPAR technology.

Installing of Operating Systems software and additional licensed programs including 3rd party software.

Carry out Capacity planning and performance tuning.

Maintain and Administer iSeries security policies.

Recover or migrate systems between two Data Centres.

Make technical decisions to enhance and improve customer service delivery

Do out of hours on call if requested.





Requirements:



Up to date knowledge of the iSeries architecture and technology including LPAR and operating systems is required

In depth knowledge of the processes relevant to the iSeries platform for backup/restore, monitoring, diagnosis, problem determination and resolution

A good working knowledge of BRMS, MQ, Connect Direct and MIMIX is required.

An understanding of performance tuning and it’s implementation

Thorough knowledge of Disaster Recovery processes

A clear understanding of iSeries Security

An ability to prioritise and plan to meet business requirements and also to manage own time effectively to work within agreed timescales

Able to work effectively as part of a small team in a large account.

Able to work independently in visits and communications with customers
